I don’t remember where I saw the post, but someone once made a very good point about how reproductive autonomy is not tied to one’s genetic relationship to the fetus.
If I, a woman, donate eggs for another woman, who then has them fertilized by her partner’s sperm, I have no say in whether or not she chooses to terminate that pregnancy later on after implantation. Yes, I would be that child’s biological mother, but it isn’t my body that will go through the process of pregnancy, and therefore my input would be irrelevant.
So far no dude I told this to has been able to justify why they thought they, as the father, should have a say in what their hypothetically-pregnant partner chooses to do.
Nature did not distribute the reproductive burden equally between men and women and our legislation on reproductive issues needs to take this into account.
“Nature did not distribute the reproductive burden equally between men and women and our legislation on reproductive issues needs to take this into account.”
YES!!
Fun statistical fact: Cows are about 300 times more likely to kill you than coyotes.
Minor sidenote to statistical fact: If it was common for people to keep several hundred coyotes on their property and routinely chase them into a corral and handle them, this statistic would be different.
this is a great summary of ‘conditional probability’, a statistical property many people grapple with

these are definitely people that got turned into trees by dark magic

I also love the resignation that Christian puts into this. It’s like “Ah, man, I just realized the beating would really help me out here.”

Hot NaNoWriMo Tip #3
Everything you write this month during NaNoWriMo is more than you would have written if you hadn’t participated in NaNoWriMo. Every word, paragraph, page, chapter, and rough draft is a win.
The point of NaNoWriMo is not to leave this month with a fully realized ready-to-go manuscript. There’s still going to be a lot of work to be done. The point is to get something down on paper and to have something you can work with. Getting started is an accomplishment.
So, relax. Take a breather. Give yourself a break. And be proud!

“In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over.” -Dan Hodges
wait is 5! = 120 an actual math thing i just reblogged it bc i sincerely believe that yelling a number makes it bigger
An exclamation point after a number means factorial. Five factorial is 5 times 4 times 3 times 2 times 1. Three factorial is 3 times 2 times 1, etc.
But the more exclamation points after a number, the less big it is, a double factorial is every other number, so 6!! is 6 times 4 times 2, which is less than 6!, So yelling a number makes it bigger, but yelling louder makes it smaller again
it’s because you scared it
