Next time antis are being, well, antis, show them this:
For anyone who can’t read it, this is some forum post – not sure of the origin – titled “Re: I hear the tumblr comin’” and it says:
I’m not proud of it, but I recently did put on a fake concerned grown-up voice in response to a teenage anti-shipper who messaged me about one of my “problematic” stories, trying to explain that they liked my writing but wanted me to know how harmful this story was to teens like them and that I needed to stop.
I responded: “Thank you for your message. Because my stories are written for an adult audience only, and tagged to reflect this, I have a policy of not corresponding with children. However, I acknowledge your concerns, and I felt I would be remiss not to tell you to please speak with your parents or guardians. It’s important for them to know that you are having difficulties stopping yourself from accessing adult material that upsets you. They may be able to take steps such as installing parental protections on your browsers, sharing your account passwords to better monitor your online activity, setting up one shared family computer in a public area of the house, or limiting your mobile access to the internet.”
Is it bad that I love this? Because I fucking love this. Holy shit.
The Queen of Swords for my Fairytale Tarot: Myths Legends and Deities From Around the World This is Turnadot, from 1001 Days (Although, historically maybe she’s based off the Mongol princess Khutulun)
In the past she was wronged, so now Turnadot refuses to marry unless the man can answers three riddles. She’ll also kill him if he answers wrong. Her justice is cold, and cruel
The single best piece of writing advice I ever got was from a professor teaching a playwriting class, who told us that in every scene, especially scenes that were just dialogue, every character should want something. Making every character in a scene have a goal is an easy way to avoid dialogue that’s just exposition, and to make sure your dialogue drives the plot forward and/or reveals characterization.
It doesn’t have to be complicated or super weighty–as long as the characters have a goal, there will be tension in the scene even if the goals are small. Character X wants to borrow a pen, and character Y wants to make a good impression on character X. X wants to insult Y until they go away, and Y wants to annoy X by pretending not to notice the insults. X wants Y to give them the last slice of pizza, and Y is super full but still doesn’t want X to have it. No matter what your character’s goal is, it will reveal something about who that character is to the reader, and the conflict between your characters’ goals will give the scene momentum.
tom.hopperhops: 9yrs since Merlin began on your screens. Wow.
So,
this photo was taken on the day we shot the scene where Arthur knighted us all.
It was also one of the first scenes I shot on the show.
This was a momentous occasion in my eyes.
This was the first time all the knights had come together on set.
An instant brotherhood was formed.
We bickered from day one.
We took the piss out of each other from day one.
@eoincmacken napped from day one.
@tomiwa.edun imported wisdom from day one. @santiagoc made us all feel less good looking from day one.
@rupertfyoung gave me tips on how to drink coffee and chat from day one.
@bradleyjames led us from day one.
And of course…….
I was was sleeveless from day one.
Being a part of Merlin was one of the best experiences of my life.
And the people in this picture (plus a few others who weren’t there for it) were a huge contributing factor. They remain, and will always remain a part of my offset, real life brotherhood.
As this photo was taken, I realised I had just become a member of this bizarre medieval boyband. “Arthur and his Knights”. And it was the first of many to come just like it.
Now to you guys, the fans.
I was welcomed in to the Merlin fandom with open arms. I owe so much to the fans of this show. You’ve always been incredibly supportive during the show and of all our on going careers since Merlin finished.
I personally can’t thank you enough for the love.
So here’s me giving you a huge amount of Hopper love back to say thank you for making this such an awesome chapter in my life ❤️
Never change Merlin fans 👊🏼
