I want to make you feel like a humid Southern night, where the Spanish moss drips from the trees like lace, and honeysuckle buds perfume the air. Sticky, glistening skin. Sultry and forever.
and fifty dozen mosquitos are sucking your body dry and cicadas scream so loud you can never sleep and watch where your honeysuckle ass steps or youâll plant your foot on a pissed off copperhead
One person is from the south. One person isnât. Guess which.
So I used to have a Russian friend who had a pretty thick accent and like a lot of Russians tended to eschew articles. She would say things like âGet in car.â And stuff.
Well one day this asshole who had been kind of tagging along with us asks her why she talks like that because it makes her sound dumb and I still remember her response word for word.
âMe? Dumb? Maybe in America you have to say get in THE car because you are so stupid that people might just get in random car, but in Russia we donât need to say that. We just fucking know because we are not stupid.â
The girl in front of us in line, Amanda-Lee (@meekobits) drew this AMAZING drawing and left the speech bubbles blank for Seb and Anthony to fill in. This is the result.
Winter Soldier/Seb:Â STOP IT ITS MINE! STUPID! UGH!!
Falcon/Anthony:Â Iâll slap you!
The best part is thinking about it in their voices. Itâs amazing. But all of her art is amazing, you should check it out!
You could be forgiven for thinking that the otherworldly rock formations in these pictures come from another planet, or from a sci-fi movie perhaps. But theyâre actually called sand tufas and they come from right here on earth.
A tufa is a peculiar form of calcium carbonate, and theyâre created when calcium-bearing freshwater springs well up through alkaline lake water (which is rich in carbonates). The carbonate and calcium combine and, over centuries, these elements form unusual spires, towering columns, and strange cauliflower-shaped mounds which can reach heights of up to nine metres (30ft). Tufas can only form underwater, and theyâre only exposed when lakes are drained or dry out over many years. Check out this collection of pictures compiled by Bored Panda to see these curious formations for yourself.
