Detailed Notes on date choices:
1) I could not find any actual dates in the show this season. The only date that was shown was March 5, 1977 in the flashback at the Glen Capri with Alexander Argent, which is supremely unhelpful. So I just assumed that the calendar followed from Seasons 1 and 2 (which is actually a 2007 calendar). This is, of course, subject to change if Season 3B has any concrete dates.
2) Google said California schools typically start sometime in August or September, so I put the starting date towards the end of August to hit the middle of that range. I also picked a Thursday as the starting day, because it worked well with Heather’s birthday party (which probably doesn’t occur the same day as the first day of school since everyone has changed clothes, but doesn’t occur too long after because Allison and Lydia still have visible bruises) and most high schools in my area (not California, but still in the US) start on a Thursday. I’m also assuming that Allison and Lydia skipped the second day of school (Friday), because Allison acted like she hadn’t seen Scott since she got the bruise from The Girl.
4) Harris has a calendar on his desk in 3×04, which does not match up with any month (or any theoretical month) in the show. My best guess is that it’s showing February 2013 instead of any actual date on the show.
5a) The placing of the first six episodes is fairly arbitrary. There are no dates given, and there is never any mention of how many days have passed since a past even/leading to a future even. The only thing we know for certain is that 3×03 (Fireflies) immediately follows 3×02 (Chaos Rising) and that 3×06 (Motel California) immediately follows 3×05 (Frayed).
5b) Placement of 3×02 was discussed in point 2) above. The other two major placements of the first six episodes (3×04 and 3×05) are about a week after 3×03 because the way the characters interact suggest that at least a little amount of time has passed. 3×04 specifically starts on a Monday night because I find it unlikely that a vet clinic would be open late on a Sunday, and I felt that 3×04 and 3×05 are relatively close together because Scott is startled when Isaac walks in on him in the flashbacks, meaning he hasn’t had time to adjust to living with him yet. I also think that the Cross Country Meet That Wasn’t occurs over a Friday night because they spend the night at a motel. If the students had had school the next day, it would make a lot more sense to drive them home and just give up on the meet. (Not to say Finstock ever makes sense, but I don’t think the school would have paid for the motel if they hadn’t approved of his plan – and the people who run the school usually make sense.)
6) The last six episodes of 3A occur in two time blocks: Episodes 7 and 8 are two days apart, and Episodes 9-12 occur in a frantic four day rush of events. The dates I picked to start episodes 7 and 9 were completely arbitrary, and based mostly on the fact that it felt like time had passed and I was trying to get in 29 days between full moons.
7) I didn’t try to do a timeline of any of the flashbacks because it’s not really relevant to anything going on in the present. We know the general order in which things happened (kind of like we know generally what happened, given our two hugely unreliable narrators), and we know it happened ten years ago, which are the most important parts.

Canon Lore in Teen Wolf
I decided to compile a tiny encyclopedia of lore in Teen Wolf, largely for fic writers! I know that a fair number of people weren’t thrilled with season 3 and I think a lot of the lore got lost. So! I made this. Because I have great ideas at 2 or 3am.
Everything here is canon, to the best of my knowledge, through either the TV show or Word of God. There is a teeny tiny bit of speculation where appropriate, but I tried to keep it factual and give sources where I can.
If I’m mistaken about something, need to clarify anything, or I’m missing anything at all, feel free to let me know!
Oh, Hydrogen Peroxide. You do so many things. You deserve more attention.
Here’s a list of the many benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide!
1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash. (Small print says mouth wash and gargle right on the bottle).
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of “Peroxide” to keep them free of germs.
3. Clean your counters with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. One man reports, “I had a fungus on my feet for years – until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry. All gone.”
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. A nurse reports that she has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, or plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your nose into a tissue.
9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. If you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it’s not a drastic change.
11. Put half of a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there are protein stains on clothing, pour it directly on the spot, let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with water. Repeat if necessary.
13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, and there is no smearing which is why I love it so much for this.
14. Use 3% Hydrogen peroxide for removing blood stains – especially if they are fairly fresh. Pour directly on the soiled spot, let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary. It is a great bleaching agent for stubborn stains on white clothes. Combine ½ c. hydrogen peroxide and 1 t. ammonia for a great stain removal combination.
15. Use hydrogen peroxide to bleach delicate items such as wool or wool blends. Soak them overnight in a solution of one part 3% hydrogen peroxide to eight parts cold water. Launder according to care instructions.
*Also, if you have a dog that you need to get to vomit (like if they ate a bunch of chocolate), make them swallow hydrogen peroxide. Give it to them a few teaspoons at a time.*

Also it helps clean off animal bones. Just soak them in H2O2 for a while and they’ll be easier to clean. Bonus: they also turn really white.

Detailed Notes on date choices:
1) I am aware that this calendar is not the 2011 calendar, which is when Season 1 is supposed to take place.
2) I am also aware that full moons happen every 28-29 days, but in order for all the other major events make any sense, the full moons in this calendar occur at completely arbitrary intervals.
3) The only solid date I was able to find for Season 2 was on Matt’s phone the night of the first full moon (the scene is in 2.10 although it happens in the timeline during 2.02). The date reads “Wednesday April 18,” which does not fit into the timeline no matter how you finagle it. (The second full moon – when Peter is resurrected – is in March; there is no way the full moon before that is in April.) So I’ve decided to ignore it and say that Matt just never got around to changing the date and time on his phone.
4) 2.03 – Ice Pick – makes no sense. To begin with, it starts with the hunter being killed by the kanima but doesn’t show him again until at least two days have passed and he isn’t showing any signs of decay. To remedy this problem, I set the timing of that scene three days after the scene that follows it. I would assume they put it at the beginning of the episode (and out of time sequence) for dramatic effect.
4.2) Right before Scott catches Erica falling off of the climbing wall, Stiles says that they have plans for “tonight” and chastises Scott for trying to back out. While it’s never stated, these plans are probably the double date to the ice rink, which I didn’t put on the calendar until the next day. This is because Erica manages to fall, go to the hospital, get the bite makeover, and sashay into the lunch room before our heroes manage to do more than get the key from Boyd. Since there is no way Erica accomplished all of that in less than one day, I figured that the ice rink expedition was delayed a day due to drama from Erica’s seizure.
5) I am not exactly sure when Derek and the pack kidnap Jackson to test him with kanima venom, but early Thursday morning works well with my feeling that the restraining order goes into effect on a Saturday. (I have no proof to back this up; it’s just a feeling. All I know is that Stiles skips school the day after Jackson attacks the Jungle, so it must be a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, and Derek wants this solved ASAP.)
6) I also have no evidence that Restraint (2.07) happens on a Monday, it could be Tuesday or Wednesday, although we do know that the rave is on a Friday and Scott and Stiles don’t get tickets until the day of.
7) I do not know when the championship lacrosse game took place; I am only guessing that it would be on a Friday. Clearly some time passes between 2.10 (Fury) and 2.11 (Battlefield), long enough for Stiles to feel the need for and schedule a guidance appointment. Ms. Morrell states during her session with Stiles that the championship game is “tomorrow,” so we do know that 2.11 and 2.12 are close together time wise.
8) I’ve seen a lot of people put a day between 2.11 (Battlefield) and 2.12 (Master Plan), but I don’t think this is the case. Looking at Scott and Isaac, neither of them change clothes between leaving the school after the game and having the showdown at the warehouse. Behavior-wise, Scott and Isaac don’t go looking for Stiles – despite the fact that Scott gets them material to scent – because Jackson becomes a more immediate threat. Also, Melissa McCall goes with Jackson to the hospital, and stays with him (not in nurse uniform) until he transforms – even in the morgue, she wouldn’t have been able to do that if over a day had passed.
